Timeline of Taylor Swift and Gracie Abrams’ friendship over the years

Gracie Abrams was a self-proclaimed Swiftie before she actually became friends with Taylor Swift.

“Every defining memory in my life is linked to a Taylor Swift song that helped me get through,” Abrams said Vanity Fair in a July 2023 profile. “My girlfriend did this thing the other day where we mixed her discography and played a song for a second. … I have them all.”

Shortly before they met, Abrams received a call from an unknown number inviting her to Swift’s birthday party. She immediately called a mutual producer to confirm that the number belonged to Swift before answering, so as not to get her hopes up in case it wasn’t the pop star.

Swift then invited Abrams to be one of the opening acts at her Epoch Tourthe three-hour concert, which will cover all of their previous albums.

“(It was) the best experience of my life,” Abrams raved about the concerts during a December 2023 interview with Diversity. “Having this be part of my weekly routine for four months impacted all areas of my life. Not only my inner joy, but also the songs we made.”

November 2022

Swift announced that she would be touring for the first time in four years, writing on Instagram that she was “enchanted” to share that Abrams would be one of her opening acts.

April 2023

Abrams made them Epoch Tour Debut in Houston, where she performed a selection of her greatest hits.

July 2023

While Swift’s Cincinnati Eras Residence, Abrams’ set was cancelled due to bad weather. Swift, who took the stage earlier than usual, then invited Abrams and Aaron Dessner on stage for a special performance of “Ivy”.

“She’s one of my best friends and I love her so much. We’ve never sung together before, so I wanted to bring Gracie on stage,” Swift gushed during the show, noting that Abrams’ “I Miss You, I’m Sorry” is one of her favorite songs.

“I’m actually at a loss for words,” Abrams replied.

November 2023

Shortly after the first US leg of the Epoch Tour Finally, Swift invited Abrams to dinner in New York. They were photographed strolling through the Lower East Side on November 13.

Later that month, Abrams confirmed that she would accompany Swift at her 2024 concerts in Canada.

December 2023

“Happy birthday, I love you so much I’m always bursting with joy for you,” Abrams wrote on Instagram for Swift’s 34th birthday, sharing a selfie taken by the 12-time Grammy winner.

June 2024

Abrams thought about her Epoch Tour Experience performing on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

“It’s a real master class to watch what she does,” the singer told the presenter Jimmy Fallon“I felt like I went to college for this job. I saw every single one of her shows that I was lucky enough to open for. I watched from every possible seat in every stadium and just tried to understand how she does what she does.”

Days later, Abrams announced the track list of her upcoming The secret of us Album that features a song called “Us” featuring Swift.

June 2024

In an interview with BillboardAbrams recalled watching Swift put out a fire in her New York City apartment while they were hanging out together. The cause of the fire was a candle that they both heard fall over, although Swift assumed the sound came from one of her cats.

“She was such a legend – I don’t know how she knew what to do at that hour or in our state,” she said. “We both had a terrible cough for weeks from the fire extinguisher fumes.”

The song “Us” from Abrams’ album was also worked on that night The secret of us and Swift plays songs from her record The “Tortured Poets” section. Abrams revealed that viral photos of her lying on the floor while Swift gives a thumbs up were taken after she first TTPD Title “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”.
