OMAHA, Neb. (KTRK) – The Texas AThe &M Aggies are just two wins away from achieving what their rivals, the Texas Longhorns, have already accomplished six times: a championship title in the Men’s College World Series.

On Wednesday, the Aggies capped off their dominant 3-0 run in the MCWS, eliminating the Florida Gators 6-0.

The Aggies defeated the Gators last Saturday and the Kentucky Wildcats on Monday before facing Florida again in the double-elimination tournament.

Florida had played Kentucky earlier on Wednesday night. The two teams were scheduled to face each other the night before, but weather pushed their elimination game back to daytime Wednesday.

The victory prepares Texas A&M’s fourth and final meeting with a rival from the Southeastern Conference, the Tennessee Volunteers, this time in the final of the MCWS for the national championship.

Game 1 of the best-of-three series will be played at 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday and will air on ABC13’s sister station ESPN.

Game 2, the Aggies’ deciding championship game or elimination game, airs Sunday at 1 p.m. on ABC13.

If necessary, a decisive third game would take place on Monday, June 24th at 6 p.m. on ESPN.

The 2024 tournament will be the Aggies’ eighth appearance at the MCWS. They have never reached the finals before.

Texas A&M faced Tennessee once this season, on May 23 in the SEC Tournament, losing 4-7.
