Country singer sings Toby Keith on delayed flight to Nashville

Country singer sings Toby Keith on delayed flight to Nashville

Only on the way to Nashville would this happen.

Travel days are never fun to begin with, whether it’s traffic jams, long lines at TSA, or canceled flights, most travel days have moments when anything can go wrong. But nothing is worse than getting on a plane and getting ready to take off, and then having to sit in a cramped airplane seat as an old person while everything gets sorted out before takeoff.

But on a recent flight, a musician set the honky-tonk mood early during a delay to Music City with a brief performance of classic country songs. When flight attendants learned their flight would be delayed, they looked for something to lighten the passengers’ spirits, so they asked everyone in the cabin if they could provide entertainment. When one man came forward, he pointed out that his friend in the back of the plane, who was wearing a cowboy hat, was a brilliant singer.

After luring him to the front, the man in the cowboy hat revealed that he was a musician named Frankie Justin. His friend retrieves his guitar from the overhead bin and stands at the front of the plane while Justin stands hunched over the intercom.

“All right, we’re going to do a little Toby Keith here. We’re going to lighten everyone’s mood and get them ready for Nashville. Are you ready?”

After the cheers of the passengers, he lights a Toby Keith classic “Should’ve Been A Cowboy.” The moment quickly went viral as Justin perfectly captured the rich tones of the song and really lightened the mood of the people on the plane.

Someone from his camp also captured the moment and shared it on their social media. The video shows a longer version of the performance and the audience participation during the chorus.

Only on flights to Nashville will you be asked to sing for the plane.”

Justin was a little embarrassed at first, not sure how the passengers would react, but let’s be honest… this could have gone really well (as it did) or really badly. Sometimes singing meant to lighten the mood of disgruntled passengers can have the opposite effect. I’m sure the flight attendants got the drinks flowing as the song continued, embodying Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” mentality.

Toby Keith really brings everyone together. I hope Big Dog Daddy looked down and smiled at that moment.

@frankiejustinmusic Only on flights to Nashville do they ask you to sing for the plane. God bless Toby Keith! 🕊️ @Avelo Airlines #aveloairlines #nashville #tobykeith ♬ Original sound – Frankie Justin
