LIVONIA, MI — The first of reportedly many Guy Fieri’s Chicken Guy restaurants in Michigan is now permanently closed after opening just over a year ago on April 1. The restaurant, which was located at 30130 Plymouth Road in Livonia, ceased operations last night.
There is another Chicken Guy in Michigan, located in Mount Pleasant. The Tomey Group owns and operates Chicken Guy in Michigan, which is also a Jimmy John’s franchisee with 50 locations in the Detroit metro area. Original plans called for opening 20 Chicken Guy restaurants across the state.
There is no information on whether this will still happen and no specific reason is given for the restaurant’s closure, but the Tomey Group issued the following statement to WXYZ.
“We have made the difficult decision to close Chicken Guy Livonia on June 30th. The decision is due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. We are incredibly grateful for the support we have received from our loyal customers and the local community, as well as our team members and partners who have supported us along the way. We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for our team members and have offered opportunities in our other areas of business.”
Chicken Guy offers chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders, salad bowls, French and loaded fries, mac and cheese, and milkshakes. There are also nearly two dozen dipping sauces. There are currently about a dozen locations across the country.
