Taylor Swift dedicates “Clara Bow” to Stevie Nicks: Video – Hollywood Life

The final song of “The Tortured Poets Department” mentions the Fleetwood Mac singer, and Taylor Swift performed the song live for the first time in the presence of Stevie Nicks.

Taylor Swift had a nice dedication to Stevie Nicks for her first ever live performance of “Clara Bow” on Sunday, June 30. The 34-year-old singer of “Shake It Off” played the final number of her Department for Tortured Poets album at her performance at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin. Since the 76-year-old “Edge of Seventeen” rocker was present at the show, Taylor dedicated the song to her in the “Surprise Songs” section of her setlist.

Before she began the song, Taylor sang Stevie’s praises and talked about how powerful she is in the music industry for young artists. “I have a friend here watching the show. She’s really one of the reasons I – or any artist – can do what we do. She paved the way for us,” she said. “She’s mentored so many artists that you don’t even know she’s doing it. She’s befriended so many artists just to be a helping hand. I can’t tell you how rare that is.”

Before revealing she was talking about the Fleetwood Mac singer, Taylor spoke about her own friendship with Stevie. “She’s one of my heroes and also someone I could tell any secret to that she would never tell anyone else,” she said. “She really has helped me through so much over the years. I’m talking about Stevie Nicks.”

Many fans also filmed Stevie’s reaction to the dedication, as well as other moments from the Fleetwood Mac frontwoman in the audience during the Dublin show. Stevie wore a dark outfit and black face mask as she sat in the VIP audience section. She also appeared to film Taylor as she gave her introduction.

The dedication to Stevie was extra special because the song Taylor performed has a connection to the rocker. In a verse of “Clara Bow,” Taylor sings, “You look like Stevie Nicks/1975, the hair and the lips/The crowd goes wild at her fingertips/Half moonlight, a total eclipse.”
