The television series “Harry Potter” will not replace the films, but will recognize them as canon, confirms WB

Something confusing in this way comes as HBO’s Harry Potter However, a TV series is not intended to replace the eight films.

The Harry Potter The film series is unique. Not only is it absolutely captivating from start to finish, but the eight Wizarding World films, which have grossed a total of over $7.7 billion worldwide, are unmatched in terms of consistent quality.

For many fans it is therefore all the more disappointing Harry Potter is officially rebooted. However, the upcoming television series is not a remake of the films per sebut a “more faithful adaptation” of the seven Books by J. K. Rowling.

Nevertheless, the films continue to enjoy great popularity among fans and remain the center of the intellectual property. They have inspired the attractions of Universal Studios theme parks, the Making of Harry Potter studio tours and So much more, for many the thought of a fresh start is, well, Riddikulus.

Then there are actors like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Ralph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Alan Rickman, Jason Isaacs, Julie Walters and Maggie Smith, all of whom have become synonymous with their respective counterparts in the wizarding world.

Who else can take on these iconic roles?

Despite the fact that Harry Potter TV series are not intended a remake of the Filmsbasically, it will be. But luckily, Warner Bros. has now provided an interesting update about the connection between the films and the upcoming reboot.

After a long wait, there is finally solid news about the Harry Potter television series.

First of all, the series will no longer be broadcast on Max, but on HBO. But that should not affect the series, because Harry Potter Author JK Rowling, who is an executive producer, told X that she was “sure that the Harry Potter The TV series will more than meet expectations.”

“I am really pleased to announce our director and writer, both of whom I interviewed as part of the production team. They both have a real passion for #Harry Potterand after reading Francesca’s pilot script and hearing Mark’s vision, I am confident the television series will more than meet expectations.”

We also learned that the series, which will consist of seven seasons (each dedicated to one of Rowling’s books) over a ten-year period, will be led by showrunner and executive producer Francesca Gardiner and director and executive producer Mark Mylod.

WizardingWorld.com announced this last week. Interestingly, however, the article also explains the relationship between the eight films and the HBO original, noting that “the (Harry Potter TV) series will be a faithful adaptation of the popular Harry Potter book series by author and executive producer JK Rowling,” which “will lead a new generation of fans with a new cast,” the original “classic and beloved films will form the core of the franchise and will be available worldwide.”

Of course, this goes without saying – the films will always be available to fans, regardless of future Harry Potter project that is also based on the books. But the fact that an official Warner Bros./Harry Potter The website (one of many) states that the original eight films will “form the core of the franchise,” which will no doubt raise many questions.

At the same time, it also answers many questions. First of all, it sounds like the eight Warner Bros. films will be considered “primary canon,” even before JK Rowling’s seven books. While the films and the TV series will not be connected, canonicalthey will share the larger Wizarding World franchise. But the Harry Potter TV series are not Replace the films.

Second, it is now more than reasonable to assume that there will be no changes to the established attractions at Universal Studios theme parks and films such as The Making of Harry Potter.

Previously, we wondered how the reboot would affect these attractions. While there will most likely be new additions inspired by the television series in the coming years, the theme and aesthetic of the films will forever remain the dominant force.

This could explain why the Harry Potter The TV series teaser shared by Max last year uses the same Hogwarts Castle design and John Williams’ score. Check it out below:
