Soleil Moon Frye pays tribute to her ex Shifty Shellshock after his death

Soleil Moon Frye has broken her silence following the death of her ex-boyfriend Shifty Shellshock.

The 47-year-old “Punky Brewster” star paid tribute to the late Crazy Town frontman — who she knew since middle school and dated from 2021 to 2022 — after he died of an accidental overdose last week at the age of 49.

“My heart whispers ‘I love you’ a thousand times because you loved my children and me so unconditionally,” Frye wrote on Instagram on Sunday alongside a selection of photos of the couple.

“I can still see your smiling, sweet face in middle school when you kissed me in your tunnel of love, and how you swept me away again as we grew up to show me what that timeless kind of love felt like,” she continued. “No words could ever express the love we shared or how we feel right now. It’s a language all its own.”

Frye added, “So now I’m going to use every bit of strength you showed me to hold on to the words you asked me in your beautiful, raspy morning voice on the beach as you showered me with kisses. ‘The people we lost, we’ll see again on the road someday, right?’ I believe we will, Seth… and when we do, the most charming, cool, tattooed angel in the mismatched shoes who taught me how to soak up life again will be standing there with the biggest smile.”

“I will instantly see your moon on your fire cheek as you welcome your family, friends, fans and loved ones under loving double rainbow arches… I love you forever and always. Your moonfire xx,” she concluded her message.

Frye and Shellshock (real name Seth Binzer) were childhood friends. They began dating after Frye divorced her longtime husband Jason Goldberg.

The actress and her ex-husband have four children: daughters Poet Sienna Rose, 18, and Jagger Joseph Blue, 16, and sons Lyric Sonny Roads, 10, and Story Indigo Moon, 8.

Frye and Shellshock apparently split up sometime in 2022.

“I’m dating myself. It’s great,” she told Entertainment Tonight in November 2022. “This is what I’ve been doing lately, which is really nice. I’ve been dating myself and enjoying self-love. That’s really been where I’ve been, and it’s great.”

Shellshock died on June 24 at his residence in Los Angeles.

Crazy Town’s manager Howie Hubberman confirmed that the singer died of an accidental drug overdose.

“Seth Binzer never got to deal with his addictions on a more successful level with ‘Butterfly’ after his battle with addiction and the quick success of Crazy Town,” Hubberman told PEOPLE. “We all tried, but ultimately we all failed, otherwise Shifty would still be here.”

Shellshock struggled with addiction and appeared in two seasons of Celebrity Rehab and both seasons of its sequel series Sober House.

Actor David Arquette, who went to rehab in 2011 for his own addiction issues, paid tribute to Shellshock on Instagram. Some of his photos with Shellshock show him with Frye and Seth Green.

“He was an incredible man with a big heart. We went through many of the same struggles and I want his family to find love and healing during this painful time,” Arquette, 52, wrote in his obituary.

The “Scream” actor also tagged Frye and thanked her for the “beautiful photos.”
