“It’s a blessing” – 97.9 WRMF

Nineteen years old d4vd is best known for the songs “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” but recently he landed his first pop radio hit with “Feel It,” written for the animated superhero series Invincible. He tells ABC Audio that he liked the show even before he was asked to write a song for it.

“A friend suggested it to me,” he says. “I’m a fan of the TV series The young and it is based on superheroes. So, Invincible said: “I thought, ‘Okay, I’ll watch it,’ and it hooked me from the first episode.”

“When the music director contacted me and said, ‘Since you’re a fan of animation and superheroes, I want to see what you can do,’ I immediately said yes,” he adds.

“Feel It” sounds different than d4vd’s other songs, which range from indie rock to R&B – but he says that’s the key to winning over new fans.

“It’s a real blessing to be the artist that I am and to cover so many different genres,” he explains. “Because every time I put out a song that people don’t know, it opens up the world to all kinds of fans who can also be fans of my music.”

d4vd is currently on a sold-out headlining tour and he believes that his live show will be even better thanks to the experience he gained last year as the opening act for SZAand said he “took so many notes.”

“It’s just a much more immersive show experience,” he says. But the best part, he says, is seeing his fans sing along to his songs.

“I mean, especially since I started making music on my phone, and now so many people interact with it and relate to it and sing it back to me… it’s crazy!”
