Without Lionel Messi, Inter Miami surprised MLS Cup winners Columbus at home and extended their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference.
It was a fast and emotional start for Miami, as Ian Fray grabbed the lead on a set piece after missing the last three seasons with consecutive ACL injuries.
The Herons confirmed their excellent start when Leo Campana doubled the lead just 10 minutes later, stunning the champions.
But the Crew responded as expected thanks to Cucho HernΓ‘ndez, who scored his sixth goal of the season to reduce Miami’s lead.
Despite a late push by the Crew, Miami’s typically porous defense held out and collected important three points.

Cincinnati secured all three points in a seven-goal thriller against Philadelphia after a winning goal by Lucho Acosta in the 10th minute of injury time.
Pat Noonan’s side gave up the lead three times, including once in the first minute of stoppage time, but the hosts showed why they are favourites for the Supporters Shield by fighting back and eventually winning.
Reigning MLS MVP Lucho Acosta showed why he owns the award by hitting the bottom corner to win it and ensure Cincinnati stays within striking distance of league leaders Miami.
