Taylor Swift’s personal items will be exhibited at the V&A Museum

Dresses, storyboards and cowboy boots are among Taylor Swift’s personal items that will be on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in South Kensington this summer.

Taylor Swift: Songbook Trail, which opens July 27 and is free, features 16 looks from the 34-year-old Grammy winner, who is currently on her successful Eras Tour.

Swift’s Eras Tour has attracted a large celebrity following, including the Prince of Wales and his children, Tom Cruise and Flea bag Favorites Andrew Scott and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The temporary tour with loans from her personal archive offers visitors the opportunity to see certain exhibits for the first time.

Fans can view items that reflect her childhood and musical heritage, the V&A said.

Among the items on display will be a pair of custom cowboy boots that Swift wore during her 2007 Soul2Soul II tour, as well as the black ruffled dress she wore in her recent music video for “Fortnight.”

Each stop on the Songbook Trail presents a chapter of her music career, which began when Swift moved to Nashville, the home of country music, at age 14.

The installations were designed by Tom Piper, whose other projects include the V&A exhibition “Alice: Curiouser And Curiouser” in 2021.

Kate Bailey, senior curator at the Museum of Theatre and Drama, said: “We are delighted to be showing a series of Taylor Swift’s iconic looks at the V&A this summer – each celebrating a chapter of the artist’s musical journey.”

“Taylor Swift’s songs, like objects, tell stories and often draw on art, history and literature.

“We hope that this theatrical journey through the museum will encourage curious visitors to learn more about the performer, her creativity and the V&A objects.”

Swift recently appeared to launch a counterattack against Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl for suggesting that she and her band not play live on their Eras tour.

Grohl told the audience at his concert in London on Saturday, June 22, that he called his band’s show the “Errors Tour” because they had “a few more eras and more than a few damn mistakes” because “we actually play live.”

Swift appeared to respond to Grohl’s reference onstage during her performance at Wembley the following night, when she thanked fans for coming to her three-and-a-half-hour set.

Speaking to the 90,000 people who filled the stadium for her third London performance as part of the Eras tour, Swift said her band deserved “so much” recognition.

She told her fans: “What you have just done is an unforgettable moment not only in my life, but in the life of every single one of our crew members. The band that will be playing live for you tonight for three and a half hours.

“You deserve this so much, and so does every one of my castmates, and you have given this to us so generously. We will never forget it.”
