Trailer for “Caped Crusader”; “Street Fighter” film in the works; “Ultraman Rising” in second place worldwide; “Resident Alien” hits theaters

The news coming out of Hollywood is coming thick and fast, and it’s time for a recap!

HBO has the Lanterns Series, after The Hollywood Reporter. The new series will focus on Green Lantern characters John Stewart and Hal Jordan from the comics. Ozark’s Chris Mundy will be the showrunner, and the series will be written by Damon Lindelof and Eisner winner Tom King (see “Eisner Awards 2023”).

Warner Bros. has added an untitled Monsterverse film to its release schedule, according to diversity. The new film is scheduled to be released on March 26, 2027 (see “Best in Shows – 2027”). This film was added after Godzilla X Kong: A New Empire had a monster opening weekend in March (see “‘Godzilla x Kong’ a Monster”).

Amazon Prime Video has released a trailer for Batman: The Masked Caped Crusader (see below). Streaming of this series will begin on August 1, 2024 (see “Batman: Caped Crusader News”).

Sony Pictures announced that they are working on a new Street Fighter Film, after The Hollywood Reporter. The film, based on the popular video game series, is being co-developed and produced by Legendary and Capcom and is scheduled to hit theaters on March 20, 2026 (see “Best in Shows – 2026”).

Ultraman rises was Netflix’s second best-selling English-language film worldwide, the streamer announced. The animated film, which was first announced as part of Netflix’s 2024 anime series (see “Ultraman”), is only behind Trigger warningand is in the top ten on the platform in 69 countries.

NBCUniversal is moving Resident Alien sent from Syfy to USA Network, according to diversityThe series, based on the Dark Horse comics (see “‘Resident Alien’ Picked Up”) and starring Alan Tudyk, was recently renewed for a fourth season.
