Shedeur Sanders is hailed as a “special player” by Buffs’ Voice and is projected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft

The Colorado prodigy is constantly in the news, but not for the right reasons. Tireless football fans scrutinize Shedeur Sanders for the expensive cars he owns or the things he says on social media. Yet his performance trumps all the ridicule and endless trolling when he plays football.

Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback of the Colorado Buffaloes, had an exceptional season last year. Although he was nowhere near the elite players of Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, he gave his all to lead his team to the top, so much so that he became the quarterback with the most sacks in the nation with 45 tackles. Gary Barnett, the former coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, now predicts that he will be a top 10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He says Shedeur is a player like no other.

Barnett jumped on the praise bandwagon for Shedeur and made a bold prediction for the quarterback when he said: “Shedeur is a special player. He’s there when he needs to be. He always handles himself very well, during the game and afterward. I think he’s a top-10 pick in the draft and one of the top four or five QBs in the country next year.” Although the experienced coach has promising ambitions for Shedeur, these pale in comparison to the predictions that the current coach and his father Deion have already made for him, namely that he will be selected among the top five.

Could Shedeur be in the top five?

When it comes to Deion Sanders, the answer is a resounding yes. Deion has already predicted a top-5 future for Shedeur and Travis, and their potential is undeniable. Let’s analyze this possibility based on the performance Shedeur has shown so far. With the young quarterback set to improve on his 2023 stats this season, there is a lot to be hopeful about for the Buffaloes’ future.

Shedeur threw for over 300 yards per game with just three interceptions on an incredible 430 attempts. The quarterback also had a 69% passing rate and tragically suffered 21 drops by the team’s wide receivers. Additionally, the 27 touchdown passes Shedeur threw ranked him 12th in the country despite leading a weak team with a poor winning record that was constantly under pressure. Shedeur has an incredible throwing arm, but if he wants to make the list of top-five draft picks, he needs to get better at completing his passes and making sure he throws them to the right players. Still, Shedeur is right up there with the likes of Quinn Ewers and Carson Beck this year, and all of them could be top-five picks in the draft, but only if they stay consistent throughout the season.
