House of Dragon Episode 3 – complete scenes at a glance: Daemon hears death prophecy, Rhaenyra meets Alicent

In episode three of the second season of “House of The Dragon,” Rhaenyra Targaryen makes one last attempt to bring peace before the great war breaks out. With the help of her new advisor Mysaria, the righteous queen enters King’s Landing and intercepts the Dowager Queen Alicent Hightower in the Great Sept. Disguised as a nun, she greets Alicent with a dagger and requests an audience, only to end up making her the biggest villain of the season.

The conversation between Alicent and Rhaenyra is the climax of the episode, but hardly the strongest. After Rhaenys tells her that even Alicent does not want a war that leads to bloodshed on all sides, Rhaenyra tries to talk some sense into the woman in green. They sit outside the sept, where hundreds of candles burn for the dead, and remember the halcyon days of King Viserys’ reign. Rhaenyra takes the opportunity to come clean about the death of Jhaerys (Aegon and Haelena’s son), and Alicent talks to her about the king’s final words. This is where the whole story turns.

The rise of Alicent to the greatest villain

The moment of truth strikes for Alicent when she realizes that her dying husband was not actually talking about her son Aegon, but rather Aegon the Conqueror and the prophecy about A Song of Ice and Fire. Alicent begins to understand the king’s final words: “Aegon – his dream. A Song of Ice and Fire. It is true. What he saw in the North. The Prince that was promised.” She continues, “The prince who will unite the realm against the cold and the darkness. You are it. You are the one. You must do this.” Rhaenyra, quickly surprised by the words, asks Alicent, “Did my father use those words? ‘The Prince that was promised’? He spoke to you about A Song of Ice and Fire?” A confused Alicent nods as Rhaenyra adds, “It’s a story he once told about Aegon the Conqueror.” “The Conqueror?” Alicent asks.

The words begin to make more sense, but Alicent still seems delusional. She interrupts Rhaenyra by saying, “There was no mistake,” as she announces, “There was a mistake.” As the scene continues, Alicent, who until now has been nothing but a victim of misunderstanding and delusion, turns into a villain. She, who can now avert war by simply accepting her error in interpreting the dead king’s words, chooses to let her incompetent son Aegon rule on the Iron Throne instead. For Rhaenyra, Alicent’s refusal to accept the truth is an opportunity. The queen, who was on the verge of stopping the war despite her council’s recommendations and suggestions, would now do no wrong by ultimately contributing to the destruction of Westeros.

Have you ever seen Daemon so vulnerable?

Meanwhile, Daemon, missing since his last conversation with Rhaenyra, enters Harrenhal and conquers the place, only to become uncertain about his presence there. He has nightmares in Harrenhal and senses a strange presence around him. Daemon announces another prophecy in the season and learns of his death for the first time in his life. The prince is in the middle of a war where his loyalty to his wife is being questioned, and he has encountered a new prophecy announced by a seemingly harmless girl in Harrenhal who tells him, “You will die here.” The stories of the half-burned castle are unknown to anyone in Westeros. It is believed to be a cursed castle with the ruins of those who died there during Aegon’s conquest. The creators set the stage for Daemon’s big breakdown in season two.

In its usual dose of nudity, the episode features an awkward argument between Aegon and Aemond, who use the brothel to express their feelings before the war. As Aegon taunts Aemond, he stands up and walks away, obviously taking another insult.

Episode three offered a moment of pure joy for those who are constantly looking for moments from House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. In a scene where King Aegon discusses war matters with his council, including Ser Criston Cole and Alicent, he holds a dagger made of Valyrian steel. This is the same dagger that Arya Stark used to finally kill the Night King in the epic White Walker War during Game of Thrones.

In episode four, Rhaenyra will probably finally declare war. Dragons will fly and breathe fire on Westeros, and many important characters will perish in the same fire. And that’s not even the beginning of the “Dance of Dragons.”
