Gretel reveals the robot’s identity

The dramatic moment occurred when the topic of Gretel’s Masked Singer Streifzug and Carrie then asked her who the other candidates were.

“Everyone thinks I’m very shy, but I have no idea,” she replied.

She went on to detail the show’s extreme security measures, which included being “picked up from a secret location” and driven to and from set in individual darkened vehicles, being covered from head to toe, and being forbidden to speak to anyone except a single producer.

“Even at the last show, when we may or may not get to sing together, we could be so close and there’s no talking,” she added.

“So you don’t know if it’s Waleed in the Robot?” Carrie asked, whereupon the lawyer and author changed her tone and said it bluntly.

“I know that Waleed is definitely there,” she revealed to the astonishment of the jury, including Waleed himself.

Is Waleed Aly the robot?

Even though Gretel may have just been joking, the clues suggest that Waleed is a prime candidate for the robot.

First, in the clues, the robot says, “I really care about the real world and want to make it a happier place,” which ties in with Waleed’s passion for social justice.

The robot also claims that they were “surrounded by gold” when they were “growing up”, which could be a reference to Waleed’s Gold Logie wins, even though he was no longer very young when he won them.

And as Carrie further explained, the author and academic is actually a musician and plays guitar in a band called Robot Child.

The four-piece rock band was formed in Melbourne in 2008 and the multi-talented Waleed is considered the driving force behind the songwriting.

Other top guesses regarding the robot include Australian pop star Cody Simpson, who was born on the Gold Coast – a reference to “surrounded by gold” – and at 182 cm, is exactly the same height as the robot.

He was also a former national swimmer, which fits with the statement “I have always been connected to the water,” and he is also involved in ocean conservation with the United Nations.

Another potential candidate for the role of the robot is Jett Kenny, the son of Australian swimming gold medalist couple Lisa Curry and Grant Kenny.

The Masked Singer The jury’s guesses are: Usher, Troye Sivan, Matt Corby, Conrad Sewell.

Former Sydney Olympics opening ceremony star Nikki Webster also had to deal with rumors that she was the alien.
