🚨 Ipswich Town breaks club transfer record for Omari Hutchinson

Ipswich Town have announced the permanent signing of Omari Hutchinson from Chelsea in a club record deal.

The 20-year-old winger was a star in the 2023-24 season, leading the club to spend heavily to secure his talent for the next five years.

Ipswich Town will reportedly pay up to £22m for Hutchinson, breaking the previous transfer record of £4.5m set for Sampdoria goalkeeper Matteo Sereni in 2001.

The club will be happy to have the young player at Portman Road Stadium as his ten goals and six assists helped the club regain promotion to the Premier League after 22 years.

“We all enjoyed working with Omari last season and the staff, his teammates and fans have all seen him grow and develop over the year. This is testament to the hard work he has put in,” said manager Kieran McKenna.

“The influence he had on the team throughout the season, particularly in the closing stages, was testament to that and he, like so many of his teammates, played a significant part in the club’s success.

“We think Omari is a fantastic player and person to have at the club for the long term. He is hungry to improve and show he can compete and succeed in the Premier League.”

According to The Athletic, Stuttgart, Ajax and Feyenoord were also interested in signing the Jamaican international from Chelsea.
