Building a sustainable future for Kerala requires the collective voice of youth, says Justice Devan Ramachandran

The Think Kerala Youth Conclave in Kochi on Sunday called for empowering youth to build Kerala’s future. “Building a sustainable and promising future for Kerala requires the collective voice of youth to drive positive change in the society,” said Justice Devan Ramachandran of the Kerala High Court while inaugurating the conclave at the Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI).

He stressed the need to understand the reasons why so many young people are leaving the state. He said Kerala has around 7.5 million workers from other states, which indicates that a change in the Malaysian work ethic is needed.

“Ensuring the safety of women is important for the development of a healthy society by allowing them to move freely in public spaces at all times,” he said, adding that reducing crime requires not only punishment but also public awareness.

The meeting, under the motto “The dream of Kerala is possible”, was intended to create a dynamic platform for innovative solutions for sustainable development. 300 young people between the ages of 18 and 30 came together. Experts from various fields exchanged ideas with the participants. The meeting was chaired by CMFRI Director A. Gopalakrishnan.

The conference recognized the need to improve higher education to meet global standards and create more jobs. It highlighted the challenges of youth unemployment and underemployment. Discussions emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and agriculture as potential sources of income for young people.
