North Crowley’s Chris Jimerson Jr. decommits from TCU to prove himself as quarterback

One of The Dallas Morning News’ Being selected as one of the top 100 recruits in the class of 2025 changed his mind.

Chris Jimerson Jr., a quarterback at North Crowley, announced Wednesday that he is decommitting to TCU. He was recruited as a receiver and said in a post on X/formerly Twitter that he is pursuing “quarterback opportunities at the college level.”

TCU receivers coach Dough Meacham was the primary recruiter for three-star player Jimerson, and shortly after his signing in October, Jimerson said 247Sport, “They’ve talked to me about playing slot receiver. … They haven’t talked to me much about the quarterback role, but I feel like that’s coming.”

He also said UTSA, Grambling and Mississippi Valley were some schools that had contacted him about the quarterback position, but at the time, being close to home and playing in a program with friends — two North Crowley seniors had also committed to TCU — outweighed that.

Jimerson is coming off a stellar junior season in which he led North Crowley to a 14-1 record and to the 6A Division I semifinals for the first time since 2003. He threw for 3,092 yards and 40 touchdowns, with just three interceptions, and he ran for 1,105 yards and 12 touchdowns for an offense that averaged 52.5 points (third best among 6A schools in the region) and 504.7 yards of offense, earning him a spot on The news’ All-Area first team.
