Justin Timberlake’s lawyer says the singer will ‘vigorously defend himself’ after drunk driving charges

Justin Timberlake’s lawyer has broken his silence on the 43-year-old’s drunk driving arrest and subsequent charges, suggesting there is more to the story.

In a statement from attorney Edward Burke’s law firm, it said: “Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations.”

It continues: “Mr Burke will have much to say in due course; he is currently awaiting the full disclosure documents from the prosecution service.”

The singer was arrested in Sag Harbor, New York, earlier this week and later arraigned in court.

Sources told TMZ that the former NSYNC singer was meeting some friends at a local hotel in Sag Harbor and was stopped after leaving the group.

According to the Daily Mail, a source said: ‘Justin was out for dinner with friends and like most nights, there were police cars outside the restaurant.

“They are looking for people who leave after midnight and may have been drinking.

“Justin left at 12:30 a.m. and was stopped immediately. No one was injured and there was no drama at the scene of the accident.”

It was later confirmed that the singer was charged with drunk driving and was later released from police custody.

His arrest came just hours after he posted a sweet tribute on Instagram to his children Silas (9) and Phineas (3), whom he had with actress Jessica Biel.

It read: “My 2 greatest gifts. I learn more about myself every day just because you both chose me as your daddy. I will always be here for you in good times and bad…

“For lifting you up and showing you how far you can go in life, and catching you when you fall. And of course, for showering you with insufferable dad jokes all the time. I love you both so much. Thank you for giving me my ultimate goal.

“And now… for today, let’s play a game where we all just relax and let Dad watch the final round of the US Open.

“Cheers to all the fathers out there who are fathers! I take my hat off to you!”

Meanwhile, comedian Ricky Gervais couldn’t resist taking a dig at the singer.

Gervais used his own brand of vodka in his reference to Timberlake, writing to his 14.9 million followers: “@jtimberlake did you get the bottle of Dutch Barn Vodka I sent you the other day?”

Many of Gervais’ followers responded to the brutal dig with laughter. One replied: “Things like Gervais trolling Timberlake are what makes Twitter great.”
