DEATH ANGEL prepares to record his tenth studio album

Metal bands from the San Francisco Bay Area DEAD ANGEL will go into the studio in a few weeks to start recording the follow-up to 2019 “Murder” Album.

On Saturday (29 June)DEAD ANGEL drummer Will Carroll took to his Facebook page: “So…I’m going into the recording studio in a few weeks to record drums for DEAD ANGEL‘s tenth studio album. It will be my fifth album with the band (seventh if you count the two live albums).

rob (Cavestany, DEAD ANGEL Guitarist) and I have been busting our asses recording demos for these songs and rehearsing them to make sure they are as well thought out and perfect as possible.

“This is the longest pre-production I’ve ever been a part of and the longest for the band since I joined.

“We jammed to the songs live and listened to the demos (without drums and second guitar) and heard a clicking sound. It took a while to get used to it, but now it’s working great.

“I have never been so well prepared for a recording.

“These new songs are a wild thrash metal ride and more.

“Let us do this.”

Last March DEAD ANGEL guitarist Ted Aguilar El Planeta told Del Rock that he and his bandmates had “a bunch of songs, a bunch of skeletons” for their upcoming LP. “We spent the first three months of this year writing. We didn’t do anything – just wrote. And I actually saw rob a few nights ago, and it’s going well. There’s a bunch of skeletons, as we call it. There’s a lot of ideas we’re waiting for (singer) To mark (Osegueda) to record some vocals. But we’re taking a break right now because we start rehearsing for (our tour of) South America next week. So we have to say, “Okay, let’s stop writing.” We have to come back and put together a really good setlist for South America and do the tour. Then when we come back, we’ll probably take a week off and then start writing again. It’s perfect timing because when we come back from South America, To markI will have a lot to do with Kerry Koenig (HUNTRESS). So it is the perfect timing, because while To markdo that Kerry Koenig thing, we’ll be at home and just – the priority is on the new album.”

Osegueda is the featured singer on kings debut solo album, “From hell I rise”which was announced on 17 May Reigning Phoenix Music.

at the beginning of March Osegueda El Planeta Del Rock told about the songwriting process for DEAD ANGEL‘s next LP: “It’s going great. And we’re excited about it. That’s where DEAD ANGEL is currently writing the new album… I think I was at (rob‘s) house on Thursday and I did the vocals for a demo of a new DEAD ANGEL song. And there are more songs for which I have to write the lyrics and melodies, because he and will are in the studio and rob has followed willI’ve been doing the drums for these songs for demos and now it’s time for me to catch up and write more lyrics and melodies. It’s happening. And the only thing that’s going to slow it down – and I don’t mind; we’re all excited about it – is that starting next week we’re going to switch gears and rehearse for the Latin American tour. “Murder” Tour. So we will be rehearsing for the Latin American tour. “Murder” Tour, we’re going on this tour, we’re not trying to rush it, then we’re going to come back, take a moment to breathe and then we’re going to get right back to writing. That’s going to be the main focus after that.”

When asked whether there is a chance DEAD ANGEL release a new single this year, To mark said: “That’s a good question. I don’t know. We’re more of an album band. Because we want to write a whole lot of music and pick the best songs that we think will make a solid, solid, vicious album, especially since it’s the follow-up to “Murder” and since that’s already happened, it’s been five years since the last (studio album). So I think we want to get the best product possible.”

In a separate interview with Elevar, Cavestany confirmed that new DEAD ANGEL Music was in the works. “I don’t like to give away ‘every single scene’; I prefer to give updates when there is substantial information,” he explained. “Other than that, I can tell you that we are currently working on about seven songs and I am getting deep into the writing zone, which is where I feel most comfortable. If we can stop saying yes to every tour offer (we love to tour), maybe we can finally finish this new album. The plan is to record it this year.”

Also in March Carroll said he was “excited” about how DEAD ANGEL‘s new music was taking shape. “The creative juices are flowing and things are moving very productively,” he wrote on social media. “One more song and we’ll have achieved the goal we set for ourselves before we start rehearsing the songs we’re doing in South/Central America in April. As soon as the tour is over and we’re back home, we’ll get right back to recording those demos.”

He added: “I can’t wait THERE Fans all over the world will be able to hear this new material and hopefully we’ll do some new stuff along the way. Really exciting times.”

Five months ago, will said that he and his DEAD ANGEL The bandmates worked hard to write the band’s next album and record the demos in full.

“It was a good feeling to be back with Rob Cavestany,” will wrote on January 26. “It’s a real challenge not to rehash the same ideas and beats from previous albums, but I think so far everything sounds fresh and inspired.”

Last July, Aguilar told Vikram Chandrasekar about the band’s songwriting process: “Well, when it comes to writing, everything is rob. It’s all rob. It starts with him. He invents a basic structure and he and will come together, discuss everything and record it. And when they get to a point where they say, “Oh yeah, that’s great,” they send it to everyone else. And Damien (SissonBass) takes over his parts and To mark (Oseguedavocals) will listen to it and try to write lyrics and melodies. And I will listen to it and rob: “What should I do here? Should I play something here? Or should I do something else?” Because rob has a vision and you want to see your vision. And once the song is at the point where we play it a few times, we can bring in our ideas like, “Hey, maybe this part should be a little bit longer,” or “Maybe we should cut that out,” or will will say, “I want to do something else here instead.” So, you know, rob has a vision, we listen, we play along. If we then feel that there needs to be changes, we voice our concerns and rob is really good at saying, “Yeah, let’s try it.” So we try everything. And in the end, it’s like, “Okay, this is what works.” So it starts with robAnd as for the lyrics, now and then rob will select a song: “I want to write lyrics for this song.” And To mark says: “Keep going.” But To mark writes all the lyrics and what he does with the music is listen to it over and over again himself. I don’t know where he goes. He travels to the far corners of the earth by himself with headphones and music and thinks up so many different melodies and stuff and then he comes up with the ones he’s happy with and puts them down on the demo form. Then when we go into the actual studio, things start to evolve because we’ve played it or listened to it so many times that by the time we get there we’re like, “All right, let’s give it a try.” It just keeps evolving up to the point where it gets sent off for mastering. Some songs stay more or less the same but we just put more energy into them. Some songs have been rewritten quite a few times so it’s different. robis the songwriter, and on the last album I wrote a song. Yes, that’s it. And right now I’m writing some stuff, and that’s how it goes: I write some stuff, send it to rob. I always tell him, “If it’s good, use it. If not, if you like parts of it, use it. If it’s not good, it’s okay, buddy.” I just throw a few things out there, because he knows what that DEAD ANGEL sound should be. And if he likes it, he will use it. If not, my feelings are not broken.”
