Watch Taylor Swift’s debut at The Albatross in Dublin

Taylor Swift performed “The Albatross” for the first time on her ongoing “Eras” tour. Watch footage of her performance below.

On the second of three nights at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland (June 29), Swift unveiled the track – taken from this year’s edition of “The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology” – following a section featuring songs from the album.

For “The Albatross,” Swift picked up her acoustic guitar and combined the song with “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” in her arrangement for the evening to create a special song mashup.

“The acoustic part – that’s what I wait for all night because that’s the point of the show that keeps me going because I’m doing something on the guitar, something on the piano,” she said before introducing the song live. Rolling Stone.

“And I do things completely differently. I’m always trying to think of something new, so I decided to sing a song that I’ve never played live before.”

In this section, Swift also performed “This Love” from 2014’s “1989” on piano, mixing it with “Ours” from 2011’s “Speak Now.”

Upon her arrival in Ireland, Swift’s welcome was capped off with a bouquet of flowers from U2. In an Instagram story, Swift revealed that the band sent the flowers along with a note that read: “Welcome back to our hometown… leave some of that?!!!!” The card was signed by her “fan club” – Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.

Swift shared the gesture, writing, “I’m already feeling the Irish hospitality!! @U2 thank you for always being the classiest and coolest.”

U2 aren’t the only rock icons to give Swift flowers – last week, both Cyndi Lauper and Chrissie Hynde expressed their admiration for her.

Lauper mentions in a BBC In an interview, Hynde said she first became interested in Swift’s music during the pandemic with 2020’s “Folklore” – “I started listening to her during the pandemic – when she was hibernating and making this wonderful folk record. It was wonderful. I’m proud of her” – while Hynde gushed about a Swift concert she attended, writing on Instagram: “Just shows what a girl can do with a guitar. The last time I enjoyed a show this much was Aldous Harding’s.”

After departing Dublin, Swift will make a two-day stop in Zurich, Switzerland before touring Italy, Germany, Poland and Austria. She will then return to London to complete the European leg of the ‘Eras’ tour before heading to Canada, where she will be supported by Gracie Abrams.

NME attended the first UK show of the “Eras” tour, which took place at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on June 7th, and gave the show a glowing five-star review.

Hannah Mylrea wrote, “Each era is a chapter in its own right. The aforementioned visual elements (supported by distinct color palettes) are accompanied by wardrobes of (rapidly changing, often brilliantly sequined) costumes for Swift and her dancers and – of course – the distinct musical worlds.

“The live performance amplifies the synth sound of ‘Reputation’, and Swift’s guitarists (she’s joined onstage by a great six-piece band and four backing vocalists) rock out. In fact, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ has never sounded better.”
