Girl from Norman meets Taylor Swift by chance at Scotland concert

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to be chosen as a “winner” of the “Taylor Swift 22 hat” at her concert. One fan is invited to each show, and so far there have only been 103. A young girl from Norman joins that group after being randomly selected at one of the shows in Scotland earlier this month.

Natalie Streight was able to meet and hug her favorite singer Taylor Swift.

“In my mind I thought, oh my God, Taylor Swift is hugging me,” said Natalie Streight, who received the “22 hat” on the Eras Tour.

The Streight family was on a family holiday in Scotland and the timing was perfect for them to take part in the Eras Tour.

“We happened to see that she would be in Edinburgh on the same three days that we would be in Edinburgh… and we got tickets,” said Lara Streight, Natalie’s mother.

Natalie always wanted to meet Taylor Swift.

“She wrote Taylor Swift a letter on scrap paper a year and a half ago,” Lara said.

“I always said that one day I would be that girl. I would meet Taylor Swift. And none of them believed me,” Natalie said.

On June 7, someone from Swift’s team accidentally tapped her mother on the shoulder at the show in Edinburgh.

“I thought, what did we do wrong? Are we going to get kicked out? I was freaking out, it was like something horrible. And then we walked towards the stage and then I realized, okay, this is… this is what’s happening,” Lara said.

Finally, Natalie’s wildest dreams came true.

It’s not just a hat, though. Taylor Swift signed it. Being chosen as a lucky fan is a pretty big deal, too.

There were over a hundred shows, and only one fan was chosen for each one, meaning that out of the millions of Taylor Swift fans around the world, 8-year-old Natalie from Norman is one of just a few very special fans.

Natalie said she loves everything about Taylor Swift and knows all the fun facts about the artist.

“She’s really nice and gives her fans little notes on tours. She’s really nice to them and just so sweet to everyone,” Natalie said.

Natalie, who always dances like she’s 22, said she will never forget this memory.

To protect the hat, the family will place it in a glass box where it can never be touched, she said. It is a memory she will always share.
