Kaitlyn Bristowe makes her country music debut with new song “If I’m Being Honest”

Kaitlyn Bristowe can now add “singer” to her already impressive resume.

The previous Bachelorette The 34-year-old star launched her music career on Thursday with the release of her new song “If I’m Being Honest.”

The country song showcases Bristowe’s musical talent, while her lyrics are about accepting yourself as you are.

“If I’m honest/ I’m not always as harsh as I seem/ And I can have my moments when words can get the best of me,” she sings. “And I can be harsh enough on myself for all of us/ I don’t need to read about it or hear about it anywhere else.”

In her announcement on Instagram, Bristowe said she finished the song over a year ago but was too “scared” and “unsure” to release it.

“If I’m being honest, I didn’t think I’d ever release this song. I was too scared, too unsure, and kept saying the classic ‘what ifs’. I don’t know who needs to hear this, but screw the what ifs,” she wrote. “This uncertain time has shown how important time is. So even though this song has been gathering dust for over a year, I’ve finally decided to share it with you.”

She said she was certainly still nervous, but she decided to embrace the fear rather than let it hold her back.

“Singing has always made my heart happy,” she said. “If I’m honest, I still feel insecure, but still PROUD to share this with you now. In fact, I think we can all relate to the lyrics now.”

Bristowe’s musical journey is also documented in her new web series 9 on the subject of wine.
