Space Cadet (2024)

Tiffany “Rex” Simpson (Emma Roberts) has always dreamed of going to space, but life isn’t quite going according to plan. Determined to make things better, she has her sights set high. With the help of her best friend Nadine (Poppy Liu), her “fake” application lands her a spot in NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut training program. Rex is overwhelmed and relies on her quick wit, courage and determination to come top of her class. NASA program directors Pam (Gabrielle Union) and Logan (Tom Hopper) are sure to take notice, but can this girl from Florida pass the training and head into space before her cover is blown?

Hopper also seems to have enjoyed playing Logan in his new film Space Cadetan intelligent but socially awkward instructor of trainees who have just joined NASA’s coveted space program. Hopper and Roberts have a number of laugh-out-loud moments as the romantic tensions mount throughout the story. “We laughed a lot, you know, and I mean, She throws curve balls of lines at you,” Hopper told us. “So we had a lot of fun supporting each other. It was good.”

Now that Hopper has played an astronaut in several projects – Space Cadet and Luther Hargreeves in The Umbrella Academy – did he ever imagine at the beginning that he would be playing such a great job? “It’s a box to tick, isn’t it?” he said. “Even though (Logan) never really gets into the space thing – he’s always at ground zero – he still has to go through the whole thing. But no… It was always like this: fighter pilot, soldier, pirate, cowboy, you know? You ticked all the boxes, right? Boys with toys.”
