Glastonbury 2024 live: Coldplay on the Pyramid Stage, Chris Martin’s net worth and how many people are in the audience

Dua Lipa saw it coming. The fireworks and the flags and the pulsing purple lights, the tiptoeing teenagers glaring at strange adults while throwing their arms in the air like money. When she was a girl, the 28-year-old, born to Albanian-Kosovan parents, tells us, in the middle of her first Glastonbury headline gig, she wrote it down – “I’m going to headline Glastonbury” – and in doing so, manifested the surprise hits and critical acclaim and the now-customary awards and No.1 hits that made that moment inevitable.

“I was very specific,” she adds after a shy laugh. “I said I wanted to headline the Pyramid Stage on a Friday night because then I knew I could party for the next two days.” Her voice breaks as she describes the magic – “the power” – that controls this seemingly infinite crowd. “As a little woman, I would be beside myself right now.”

“Especially at a time that could be perceived as a very divided world, I thank you for giving us and me back the belief that most people, with all their flags, colors, genders, sexualities and ages, can come together quite peacefully and just sing, have fun and eat ice cream. There are no arguments, nothing like that,” Chris Martin told the audience on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on Saturday, June 29.

“So thank you for your inspiration. Hopefully together we can send all of this out into the world as a beacon of togetherness in a time when that may seem impossible. You just proved that it is. That’s amazing, thank you.”

I’m literally screaming at home right now, my absolute favorite Michael J. Fox is on the Pyramid Stage for Coldplay and he’s wielding a guitar! What an absolute hero and we all know it.

Chris Martin presents a song from their very first album “Sparks” from the 2000s Parachutes. Beautiful and stripped down on the acoustic guitar. It says a lot when you can still captivate your audience with such a stripped down set.

I love the LED bracelets (which Coldplay invented) and the huge fireworks that go off when the band plays “Sky Full of Stars” for the second time after Chris Martin asks everyone to put their phones away and just surrender to the music. I’m at home and even I’m getting emotional about all of this.
