5-year love story leads to Braum’s parking space proposal

5-year love story leads to Braum’s parking space proposal

An OSU wrestler proposed to his now fiancée in an unusual location over the weekend.

Their five-year love story culminated in their now viral marriage proposal in the Braum’s parking lot.

“I had no idea, otherwise I would have been in a better mood, to be honest,” said Brooklyn Rackley, the bride-to-be. “I thought we’d been to Braum’s a million times. I know off the top of my head what kind of ice cream you want. Why are we going in there?”

“You know, she’s scaring me to get out, and I just said please just get out of the truck,” added Dustin Plott, the groom-to-be.

When Brooklyn finally got out of the truck, Dustin got down on one knee.

“I thought we’d cut it short and get straight to the point. Hopefully she’ll say yes and we’ll get some ice cream and it won’t be like last time,” he said.

You heard right… Things didn’t go so well the last time he proposed to Brooklyn in the Braum parking lot and asked her to be his girlfriend.

“That’s when she said no to me five years ago,” Plott said. “We went in, got our ice cream, sat in the truck, listened to music and enjoyed it. And I was like, well, what are we going to do, do you want to go out? And she was like, yeah, I think it’s a little early for that.”

But five years later, Dustin was there at just the right time.

“He said, ‘I know you said no to me last time, but I hope you say yes to me this time,'” Rackley said.

The newly engaged high school sweethearts say they couldn’t be happier.

“We are just so grateful that we met and that God made this possible. We are looking forward to what we hope will be a long future together,” said Plott.

The couple has not yet set a wedding date, but is looking forward to a spring wedding.
