Kesha has announced that she will release a new single titled “Joy Ride” on July 4th – just days before Katy Perry is set to release her own song as part of her controversial collaboration with Dr. Luke.

The 37-year-old Tik Tok singer, who recently showed off her summer look upon arriving at LAX airport, shared the news on her main Instagram page with her 3.3 million followers on Saturday.

In the first post, the star uploaded a picture of herself posing next to a white Porsche convertible at a gas station.

Right next to it was a price tag that read “7.04,” which revealed the song’s release date, and above it was the name of the single, “Joy Ride.”

Kesha showcased her toned figure in a bright red crop top, tight leggings and ankle-length red latex gloves.

She slipped into a pair of knee-high heeled boots and let her platinum blonde locks fall just over her shoulders.

The star rounded off the ensemble by wearing fashionable sunglasses while filling up the luxury car.

In the caption, the “Die Young” hitmaker wrote to her fans: “GET IN LOSER,” which apparently refers to a quote from the 2004 film “Mean Girls!”.

Kesha also uploaded a separate post that included a montage clip of her posing next to the Porsche.

She chose a second outfit that consisted of a red micro mini skirt, a white crop top and black over-the-knee boots.

The artist was seen in a red vintage convertible at a gas station – a possible allusion to the theme of Joy Ride.

At the end of the short film, the star – whose full name is Kesha Rose Sebert – held up a cardboard sign with only the title of the song on the front.

While also wearing a red cowgirl hat, the beauty looked over her shoulder at the camera and ended the video.

“You’re right, I’m a***h,” the Blow singer wrote in the caption, adding: “JOYRIDE ¿ 7/4”

Notably, Kesha wore the same ensemble during a photo shoot that took place at a gas station in Los Angeles earlier this week on Thursday.

Throughout the clip, a snippet of what appeared to be the next song could be heard in the background.

“You’re right I’m f***ed,” the Blow singer typed in the caption, adding, “JOYRIDE ♡ 7/4.”

In the comments, social media users shared their excitement about the new single, with one writing: “YES. FINALLY. THE QUEEN HAS COME BACK. THE WORLD IS HEALING.”

“I already know this song is my song of the summer,” wrote one, with “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Kyle Richards adding, “Here we go!!!”

“Show the world your new independence by posting something on Independence Day. How iconic,” one fan wrote in the comments section of the photo.

Kesha’s single is scheduled to be released just days before Katy Perry’s own song “Woman’s World,” which is set to be released on July 11.

The fact that “Joy Ride” is being released on July 4th also seems to be a subtle dig at Perry – as Katy’s 2010 hit “Firework” often recorded a high number of streams on July 4th.

Earlier last week, the Dark Horse singer was criticized for collaborating with Dr. Luke on her upcoming album – after Kesha previously made allegations of sexual harassment against the producer. Katy was seen with Dr. Luke (left) and producer Cirkut in LA in 2014.

The timing of the release of Kesha’s new song coincides with an alleged dispute between the two musicians after Perry collaborated with producer Dr. Luke.

Earlier last week, the Dark Horse singer was heavily criticized for her collaboration with Dr. Luke on her upcoming album – after Kesha had previously made allegations of sexual assault against the producer.

Perry “knew exactly what album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen,” a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone about the collection of talent she assembled for her first release since 2020’s “Smile.”

According to the release, Perry’s co-collaborators on the upcoming sixth album include Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Sarah Hudson and Stargate.

Katy and Dr. Luke, 50, have a professional history, having collaborated on hit singles such as “I Kissed a Girl” (2008), “California Gurls” (2010) and “Roar” (2013).

The “Firework” singer was asked about her collaboration with Dr. Luke as she left a Paris Fashion Week event on Wednesday, TMZ reported.

Perry did not respond to questions such as, “Isn’t your album about female empowerment? Why are you working with Dr. Luke?” as she left an event.

Kesha tweeted “lol” on June 17 after it was revealed that Perry was working with music professional Dr. Luke, with whom Kesha was involved in an extensive legal battle after making the above allegations against him in a 2014 lawsuit.

Several followers speculated about the meaning of Kesha’s “lol” tweet. One speculated that “she’s laughing at Katy and her new song,” while another asked, “Is that Katy Shade?”

Other people pointed more to Perry’s professional decision to work with Dr. Luke.

The fallout from the allegations and the lengthy legal battle with Kesha prompted artist Doja Cat to announce in December 2021 that she would no longer work with him in the future.

Perry, who hails from Santa Barbara, California, posted a clip on TikTok previewing her upcoming song “Woman’s World,” which is set to be released on July 11.

In February, she announced that she would be leaving American Idol after seven seasons to focus on her career as a solo artist.

Kesha and Dr. Luke announced in June 2023 that they had settled their long-running legal dispute.

Kesha said in a statement at the end of the trial, “Only God knows what happened that night,” while Dr. Luke said he was “absolutely certain nothing happened” and that he “never drugged or assaulted her.”

After the lengthy legal battle, the singer also addressed her fans and followers on her Instagram page.

“I am humbled and in awe of the support and love you have given me. You have held and carried me for the past nine years,” she wrote.
