Number one seed Taylor Fritz defeated Australian Max Purcell 6-4, 6-3 to win his third Rothesay International title in Eastbourne, England on Saturday.

He is the first three-time title holder in the tournament’s 29-year history.

He didn’t drop a set throughout the tournament and hit nine aces and didn’t face a break point on Saturday, recording 15 winners and two unforced errors, compared to 10 and 11 respectively for Purcell.

Fritz previously won at Eastbourne in 2019 and 2022, needing just 70 minutes for this victory – his second in 2024 after an earlier win at Delray Beach. The match was the first tour final for Purcell, a qualifier.

Fourth-seeded Alejandro Tabilo became the first man from Chile to win a title on grass, defeating Austrian Sebastian Ofner 6-3, 6-4 in Spain.

Tabilo won his first tour victory earlier this year on the hard courts in Auckland. He is one of only two men, along with Fritz, to have reached the finals on hard courts, clay courts and grass courts this season.

Ofner was fighting for his first ATP Tour title but was thwarted by Tabilo, who served five aces and fended off all three break points.

When the new rankings are published on Monday, Tabilo will be in 19th place, moving up more than 100 places from last year.
