The South Pasadena Public Library has announced the launch of the Walking Book Club, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on February 14, 2024, in front of the library entrance at 1100 Oxley Street.

The aim of this monthly event is to combine the joy of reading with the benefits of outdoor activities and thus promote a healthy and social approach to literature.

Every second Wednesday of the month, adults are invited to meet at the South Pasadena Public Library at 9:00 a.m. and take a walk through the community. The Walking Book Club offers participants the opportunity to discuss their selected book, share insights, and enjoy the camaraderie of other readers in a relaxed outdoor setting.

During the first walk, participants will discuss books they are currently reading. Each subsequent month, one book will be chosen as the focus of discussion during the walk. Participants are encouraged to prepare their thoughts, questions and reflections on the selected book. Library staff will moderate the discussion and ensure a lively exchange of ideas and opinions.

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, interested participants must register in advance and sign a waiver. Registration can be completed at southpasadenaca.gov/register.

Supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, which in California is administered by the State Librarian.
