Doug Anderson appointed Chief Steward of the Jockey Club of Canada

Doug Anderson has been appointed Chief Steward of the Jockey Club of Canada, effective June 29. Anderson succeeds R. Glenn Sikura, who served two three-year terms as Chief Steward.

Anderson, owner of Sovereign Award winners A Bit o’ Gold and Millie Girl, breeds a small herd of mares in Ontario each year and races under the name Braconcrest Inc. He sits on the board of CTHS (Ontario Division) and actively supports Thoroughbred retirement by visiting and riding his own horses several times a week.

Sikura will remain on the Jockey Club of Canada Board of Stewards until his term as Steward officially ends at the 2025 Annual General Meeting. David Anderson and Sue Leslie have both completed their second three-year terms on the Jockey Club of Canada Board of Stewards and have resigned.

The Board of Directors has appointed Mark Krembil and Sherry McLean as her successors, effective June 29. Krembil is heavily involved in breeding, ownership and aftercare through Chiefswood Stables Limited, while McLean operates the breeding, ownership, consignment and stud of Northern Dawn Stables Inc.
