Ty Gibbs wins the Xfinity Series Pole Award at Nashville Superspeedway ahead of Cole Custer

This sounds familiar: Ty Gibbs is on pole for the NASCAR Xfinity Series at Nashville Superspeedway, beating Cole Custer. Things are going to heat up in Music City today.

Five Cup Series drivers are in the race tonight. Ty Gibbs, Noah Gragson, Ross Chastain, John Hunter Nemechek and Tyler Reddick are competing in the second-tier series. A bit of double action for the hottest weekend of the year.

On the way to the race this afternoon, Gibbs is one to keep an eye on. Don’t miss any of the series’ regular cast members.

This is the second time this season and the ninth time in his career that Ty Gibbs has won the Xfinity Series pole award. Gibbs has P24 at COTA, P9 and a pole award at Charlotte and a DNF P35 at Sonoma. He is still looking to win in Xfinity and Cup this season.

This race will be exciting. Gibbs has had ups and downs at Nashville Superspeedway. Last season he was a DNF at Nashville. The year before, during his championship year in the Xfinity Series, Gibbs was P4 at Nashville.

Gibbs has a knack for the Xfinity Series. He was a part-time driver in 2021 en route to the ARCA championship, picking up four wins. If he gets into one of those races, things will get even more interesting.

Add in the other talent in the Cup Series and we are in for a fantastic race.

Ty Gibbs and others take on a dual role in Nashville

Despite the oppressive heat, there are a few drivers pulling double duty. As I mentioned above, Ty Gibbs, Noah Gragson, John Hunter Nemechek, Ross Chastain and Tyler Reddick are all entered for this race.

That puts a lot of pressure on drivers like Cole Custer, Riley Herbst, Chandler Smith and the other talented regulars in this series. So far, this Xfinity Series season has provided drama and more than a few great races.

Custer has yet to win a race, but he leads the points table. Riders like Chandler Smith, Austin Hill, Sam Mayer and Shane van Gisbergen have now won a few races each.

Ty Gibbs will lead the field later this afternoon. He has all the skills and tools he needs to win. Will he be able to do it under the hot Tennessee sun?
