Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt from “Beverly Hills Cop 4” talk about the legendary theme song

Just hearing the name Beverly Hills Cop can instantly remind fans of the film series’ iconic theme song. It returns in the new film, and franchise newbies Kevin Bacon and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have confirmed that they kept it in mind during production of the new Netflix sequel. Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.




In a new interview with Kevin Polowy of CBR, the actors commented on the film and Beverly Hills Cop Title song: “Axel F.” by Harold Faltermeyer. When asked if they actually listened to the song before shooting to prepare for a new film, Beverly Hills Cop Film, Gordon-Levitt replied: “Many times.” Bacon also said that the song was basically constantly playing in his head throughout production.

Eddie Murphy explains why Beverly Hills Cop 3 wasn’t as well received by fans as its predecessors.


“You know, I only had it as an internal loop,” Bacon explained. I went to bed at night, woke up in the morning and it was there. I made coffee… It is very contagious. It’s really hard to get it out of your head. It was really there when I made the film.”

Bacon and Gordon-Levitt also commented on working with Eddie Murphy. Gordon-Levitt, for his part, marveled at how “laid back” Murphy was, as the accomplished actor turned out to be much “laid back” than expected. Bacon also praised Murphy for not overdoing his acting, as other actors, including himself, sometimes do when they want to achieve a certain result.

“You try to push it, you try to act it out, you try to sell it, you try to convey it, but that’s not how it works,” Bacon said.He would rather do nothing than be seen push something. So it affects me in some ways when I’m in a scene with him. I have to be present and not be concerned with the result. I have to listen and throw the ball back and forth.”


In addition to Bacon and Gordon-Levitt, the film also introduces Taylour Paige to the franchise. Of course, Eddie Murphy returns as Axel Foley, and other franchise stars reprise their roles, including Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot. The film was directed by Mark Molloy, and written by Will Beall, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. Murphy produced alongside Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman.
