Broncos

During his appearance on Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan, Broncos LB Jonas Griffith said he has circled Week 2 against the Steelers when they face their former teammate Russell Wilson.

“Of course, I’m really looking forward to every game I get to play in,” said Griffith. “But you can tell you’re excited to go out there and — beat the Steelers, especially, they’re a good organization. I definitely want to knock Russ out. I think that would be really cool, just knock him out and get the win first and foremost.”

Griffith said he has fully recovered from the torn ACL he suffered in August last year.

“I mean, I definitely have room for improvement in terms of my fitness and everything, but I’m 100 percent fit,” said Griffith. “I’ve been fully participating in OTAs and minicamp and honestly my knee feels better than it did before. I just got a new knee, a new ACL, it’s been a lot better, so, I mean, and we’ve been rehabbing it all year long. It’s great, man. And I’m not in any pain. And I can’t wait (to play a game).”

Griffiths’ goal is to make the All-Pro selection this year and improve his game “to the next level.”

“Honestly, if your goals don’t scare you, what do you have goals for? Honestly, my goal is to become All-Pro this year,” Said Griffith. “When I compare myself to the other top linebackers in the league, I think I can do it. Just go out there and do what I do, take my game to the next level and don’t let anything burn.”

Chiefs

Chiefs DT Chris Jones mentioned that he had broached the idea of resting during training camp to protect his body from additional wear and tear.

“Listen, man, I already talked to Andy about it: ‘Let me skip training camp. I’m a little older, right?'” Jones said of Jesse Newell of the Kansas City Star: “I feel it. I feel it when we have a day in training camp. Then give me two days off and one day off and maybe we can work something out, you know?”

Tashan Reed of The Athletic dived into the Raiders’ projected 53-man roster as they prepare for late summer training camp.

  • Starting with QB, Aidan O’Connell And Gardner Minshew were comparable during the OTAs and Reed believes it makes more sense to go with O’Connell if that continues.
  • Reed feels RB Zamir White will do most of the work with RB Alexander Mattison as a clear backup.
  • Mattison explained why he chose Las Vegas as a free agent: “This was the best opportunity… just knowing the feeling is one of the greatest things, you know. When I was here visiting, it was something that was undeniable. That energy was captivating. And yes, this opportunity here is, as far as I know, an open competition and I’m looking forward to it.” (SiriusXM NFL Radio)
  • With the addition of TE in the first round Brock BowersReed expects the Raiders to use a lot of personnel from the 12th spot to replace Bowers and TE Michael Mayer to divide the field.
  • Las Vegas is solid on defense, with the second outside CB job being the only starting spot up for grabs. Reed says “That would not be surprising” if the fight continues in the regular season.
