Adam Sandler recreates his famous golf swing for the 25th anniversary of Happy Gilmore

Adam Sandler recreated his famous golf swing from Happy Gilmore to mark the film’s 25th anniversary.

In the 1996 sports comedy, which also starred Christopher McDonald and Carl Weathers, Sandler played a reluctant golfer with anger issues.

To mark the milestone release on Tuesday, Sandler shared a video on Instagram showing Happy’s signature swing, in which he takes a run-up before hitting the ball.

“It’s been 25 years since I did this. Let’s see what happens,” said Sandler, 54, as he prepared for the injection.

He took a run-up and hit the ball down the fairway. “And I’m not lying to you, that was a direct hit, that went pretty well,” he said.

Addressing Happy’s rival from the film, McDonald’s obnoxious professional golfer Shooter McGavin, Sandler said: “You’re dead, Shooter!”

Sandler captioned the video: “Happy loves you all! Thank you for everything!”

McDonald, 66, responded with a video of his own. The actor playing Shooter said: “Safe ride, Gilmore! 25 years, huh? Let’s see if that’s Shooter’s tour.”

He then managed to kick a ball into an overturned glass on his living room floor.

McDonald, who is also known for his role in “Thelma & Louise,” then thanked fans for their continued support of the film.

Sandler co-wrote “Happy Gilmore” and Dennis Dugan directed it.

The film was a box office success, grossing more than $41 million (around £29.5 million) against a reported budget of $12 million (£8.6 million).
