Former NFL GM speaks out bravely about Packers QB Jordan Love

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love engineered an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs last season. After months of processing that potentially game-changing statement, a former NFL general manager has decided he would choose Love over any other quarterback, with one obvious exception.

In an interview with NFL Live on Wednesday, analyst Mike Tannenbaum said he would only take Patrick Mahomes over Jordan Love.

“If we were running an NFL team today, there is no one in the world other than Patrick Mahomes that I would rather have than Jordan Love,” Tannenbaum said.

Love made a massive mark on the face of the league in 2024. After a slow start with repeated mistakes at the end of games, the quarterback stood out. The young quarterback started 3-6 but made a resurgence in the second half, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record and a win in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Can Jordan Love displace Aaron Rodgers?

The benchmark for Love is, of course, Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers has set the bar sky high in the regular season, and it’s within reach in the playoffs. In the regular season, Rodgers posted a 147-75-1 record. In other words, if Love can win twice as many games as he loses, he would overtake the quarterback in terms of regular season success.

Rodgers has also set the statistical bar as high as it can be. With the Packers, he threw 475 touchdowns and 105 interceptions. Love has thrown 35 touchdowns and 14 interceptions over the course of his career. In short, he still has a long way to go in terms of overall production during the regular season.

However, when it comes to playoff performance, Love could probably catch up with Rodgers.

Rodgers has won just one Super Bowl in his career, so Love could technically tie him in that category this year. If he were to have two years of success like Mahomes, he could overtake Rodgers in the most important postseason category by February 2026.

At this point, it’s too early to tell what the Packers have in store. After his first full season, the defense has had time to figure out how to counter his best plays.

If Jordan Love can successfully earn a second-round pick, he would prove he belongs in the NFL, but if he stumbles, he will become the underdog in the battle for Rodgers’ legacy.
