Club World Cup 2025: Schedule and participating teams

Next season, among many other changes to the calendar, will also see the first edition of the new Club World Cup format, which, like the World Cup for national teams, will be held every four years. This new format will involve 32 teams, initially divided into eight groups of four teams each, playing in a single round-robin format. The top two teams in each group will advance to the round of 16, with the knockout phase from the round of 16 to the final being played on a knockout basis.

A real tournament in which we will get to know the participating teams, including Juventus, which has secured its place in the competition. The tournament will begin on June 15, 2025 and end on July 13, 2025 in the United States.

The allocation of teams gaining access to the competition is based primarily on continental distribution (with Europe, Asia, America, etc. having a predetermined number of participating teams), followed by ranking criteria to select the clubs participating in the tournament.

12 teams qualify from Europe: the last four Champions League winners plus eight more based on their performance in the Champions League over the last four seasons. There are also six teams from South America; Asia, Africa and North and Central America each have 4 places. Finally, one place is reserved for Oceania and one for the host country.

A club’s coefficient in the UEFA rankings – which is crucial for establishing the above classification – is generally calculated by adding the total number of points obtained in the Champions League, Europa League and Europa Conference League in a given season. As mentioned above, only the points obtained in the Champions League count for the Club World Cup.
