Warning: This post contains spoilers from the latest episode of America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.

Loren Allred finally made her big appearance on America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League.

In the latest episode of America’s Got Talent In this spin-off, Loren was introduced to the American audience as part of Simon Cowell’s fantasy team after she Britain’s Got Talent in 2022.

However, Loren’s story was different from that of other singers on AGT since a large part of the audience probably already knew them without knowing it.

“One of my favorite films was The greatest showman and one of my favorite songs in the movie is ‘Never Enough.’ Then I found out that the girl who sings the song in the movie didn’t actually sing it,” Simon explained to fellow judges Mel B, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum after Loren took the stage. “It was actually Loren singing.”

In her video package, Loren explained that music has “always been a really big part” of her life, as she grew up with two parents who were music teachers. “I always loved to sing… but I was too shy to do it in public,” she explained.

But at the age of 24, her life changed when she met Greatest showman the songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, who asked her to sing the demo track for “Never Enough”.

“I went into the studio and sang the song, and then they said, ‘We’re thinking about getting the actress to lip-sync to your singing,'” Loren recalled. “And I just thought: Oh my God. I was so excited to have my voice heard in the film.”

And that’s exactly what ended up happening. Actress Rebecca Ferguson played Jenny Lind in the musical and “sang” the powerful ballad on screen. The film’s soundtrack – featuring Loren’s voice in “Never Enough” – later climbed the charts in several countries, becoming the best-selling album of 2018 in the US and winning a Grammy for Best Soundtrack Compilation for Visual Media that same year.

Another single from the album, “This Is Me,” even won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song and a nomination for Best Original Song at the Oscars in March 2018.

But while Loren was AGT: Fantasy League that she was “so proud because people heard my voice and this was what I had dreamed of,” but it was not everything she had hoped for.

“People didn’t know that I had sung the song in the movie, and when they heard me sing it, they said, ‘You sound just like in the movie, wow!'” she said in her video package. “It was only at that moment that I thought, I really have to try it, but I wasn’t ready for a stage like America’s Got Talentso I went on Britain’s Got Talent to get a feel for the matter.”

Loren described her performance on the British competition show as “the most terrifying thing for me.” She eventually received the Golden Buzzer from judge Amanda Holden and made it to the final, but only came in ninth place. “I didn’t win, but I faced my fear and I’m really, really proud of that,” she said.

With the encouragement of mentor Simon AGT: Fantasy LeagueLoren decided to sing “Never Enough” on Monday night’s episode – but in a “completely new” way.

“I’m going to test my vocal range. I’m 34 years old and I just felt like if I don’t try again and be fearless, then I might regret it,” Loren said, later adding, “I have big dreams. I want to be on Broadway, have my own albums out and I just feel like if I hit the jackpot tonight, then maybe those dreams can come true.”

After her stunning performance, everyone in the hall stood up. The judges were also blown away by her performance. Howie said Loren was “such a great talent” and praised her for “bringing it out and putting it out there in the world.”

“We were so lucky to be able to witness this… it was just beautiful,” said Heidi, while Mel B said she was “at a loss for words” and “blown away” by Loren’s singing skills.

Finally, Simon told the singer on his team: “That was really spectacular. That moment was almost taken away from you, and nobody knows it was you. And now you have the courage to come back on that show and tell America, ‘That’s me.’ That’s so special. I really hope America stands behind you and gives you the chance that I think you really deserve because you’re an exceptionally good artist.”

It turned out that Simon was right. When Americans voted, Loren secured one of the spots in the semifinals. With her were two other contestants from Team Simon: the country trio Chapel Hart from season 17 and the musical group Pack Drumline from season 17.

Two members of Heidi’s team also made it to the semi-finals: Enkh-Eredene, a singer from Mongolia has talent Season 2 and Yu Jojin, a magician from AGT Season 17.

The last place of the evening went to the Golden Buzzer winner. Heidi received the Golden Buzzer of the evening – and she decided to use it for her own team member rather than stealing a performance from the other judges’ teams. That buzzer went to Sofie Dossi, a contortionist from season 11 of AGT and season 1 of AGT: The Champions.
