Taylor Sheridan fell victim to a cheap trick that doomed Game of Thrones and ultimately backfired

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone has captivated fans with the story of the Dutton family, but as the series progressed, a significant deviation in the plot occurred that caught the attention of many viewers. Take Kayce Dutton, for example.

He was introduced in the series as someone to watch out for, and he had promising potential to become the show’s central character. As time went on, his story arc seemed to fade away, giving way to another, more interesting, if less significant, storyline: the tumultuous romance between Beth and Rip.

Yellowstone Steered the spotlight away from his supposed main character

A fan of Reddit pointed out how Yellowstone seemed to have placed more focus on Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) than on the story of Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes).

Fans showed great interest in the duo’s love story and it seems that director Taylor Sheridan listened to audiences’ demands for more screen time for the two rather than focusing on the actual plot.

Television shows are successful because they have high ratings. If people like what they see, they will naturally continue to subscribe to the show. Sheridan wanted to keep his viewers, so he showed them more of Beth and Rip and less of Kayce.

It also comes down to the creative freedom of the series creator to do what he wants. As an original series, there is nothing like it, hence Sheridan’s own discretion to achieve viewer satisfaction by pandering or helping to indulge or satisfy another person by giving them more of what they crave in exchange for, in this case, sky-high ratings.

game of Thrones Ruined itself by trying to please the fans

game of Thrones was one of the biggest flagship shows on HBO, but how come a hugely popular series ended up facing so much backlash? How Yellowstoneit also became dependent on the demands of the fans.

It is already known that a lot of things were changed compared to the original source, but what was even more annoying was that the people behind it tried to add even more unnecessary things that did not contribute anything to the overall story.

Take the words of Neil Marshall, who spoke to Rich (above vulture) to reveal what a senior boss told him while he was filming the episodes Black water And The Guardians on the Wall:

This particular manager took me aside and said, “Look, I represent the perverted side of the audience, okay? Everyone else is the serious drama side, (but) I represent the perverted side of the audience and I say I want full nudity in this scene.” So go ahead and do it.

game of Thrones gave the audience something to enjoy for the moment, but what they didn’t know was that it would doom the show in the long run.

Don’t forget the infamous love story between Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington), which completely ruined everything they had planned for Daenerys since Season 1.
