Bilibili competition “New Generation Musicians Program” starts in China

On June 13, Chinese video platform Bilibili officially launched the “New Generation Musicians Program – Original Season.” This program includes a large-scale competition for singer/songwriters to create music and select musicians. It will also provide a fund of 5 million RMB (renminbi) and various opportunities for participants to showcase their talent.

The initiative aims to empower musicians with decision-making power, with a focus on “musicians helping musicians” and to gain industry support. Eight artists, including Chen Chusheng, Chen Li, Penny Tai, Han Hong, Hua Chenyu, David Tao, Wang Sulong and Tia Ray, are working with the participants. Sony Music will handle album production, while Billboard China will provide comprehensive coverage of the event. Sixteen renowned music critics will help with online media promotion, and 13 record labels will provide performance and collaboration opportunities for the participants.

In 2023, Bilibili launched the “New Generation Musicians Program – Girls Season” to showcase female musicians and achieved great success. Industry insiders expect that this year’s event will unveil more rising stars of the Chinese music scene.
