Ryan Gosling says a famous actor once had a crush on his mother on set

Ryan Gosling’s mother once caught the eye of screen icon Burt Reynolds.

During an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Gosling recalled working with the late actor on 1996’s “Frankenstein and Me,” Gosling’s first film.

Kimmel asked the “Barbie” star, who was a teenager at the time, if he could spend time with Reynolds on set.

“It’s complicated,” Gosling said. “Because I thought he had his eye on me. I thought he thought I was special. And then I realized I have a really wonderful mother.”

“He was just interested,” he added. “I got a sort of secondary glow. The real glow was on my mother.”

He added that his mother “loved” it.

Kimmel pointed out that if they had gotten married, “You could have been Ryan Reynolds!”

Gosling’s parents, Donna and Thomas Gosling, separated when he was 13. He grew up with his mother and sister in Ontario, Canada, and credits his mother for encouraging his passion for acting from a young age. He recently brought her along as his escort to the Oscars, where he delivered a stunning performance of “I’m Just Ken” from the “Barbie” movie.

Gosling appeared on “Kimmel” on Wednesday to promote his new film “The Fall Guy,” in which he plays the role of stuntman Colt Seavers.

With a dramatic appearance on stage, he demonstrated some of his new stunt skills.
