Logan Paul takes legal action against Coffeezilla, but why?

Social media influencer Logan Paul has taken legal action against Stephen Findeisen, a popular YouTuber known as CoffeeZilla. Paul’s lawsuit centered on a defamation claim against Findeisen over CryptoZoo videos.

The YouTuber made videos in 2022 and cited Paul’s failure with CryptoZooan NFT project developed by the latter. In the latest lawsuit, Paul claimed that Coffeezilla used malicious false statements to accuse him of pioneering a scam on CryptoZoo.

Logan Paul sues Findeisen “Coffeezilla” for defamation using YouTube videos

Paul filed the lawsuit against Stephen Findeisen on June 27 in a district court in San Antonio, Texas.

The complaint alleges that Findeisen “maliciously and repeatedly” used false statements to accuse Paul of pioneering a fraudulent NFT project called CryptoZoo, the blockchain project that later failed.

According to the lawsuit, Findeisen called CryptoZoo “Logan Paul’s biggest scam” in his video. He accused Paul of misleading his supporters and not fulfilling any of the project’s promises, but keeping the money for himself.

In addition, the lawsuit mentions that Coffeezilla intentionally omitted important information about Paul’s activities from his videos. For example, the plaintiff claimed that he was committed to the success of CryptoZoo.

However, he was misled by bad advisors like Eduardo “Eddie” Ibanez and Jake Greenbaum, which led to the demise of the blockchain project.

Paul said that Ibanez was a scammer but posed with false credentials. Similarly, Greenbaum gave him advice on blockchain but was secretly out for his own personal gain. So Paul blamed the duo for the CryptoZoo fall.

The lawsuit states: “Findeisen was well aware that Paul had never intended to defraud anyone. On the contrary, his intention had always been to develop a legitimate blockchain-based game that participants could enjoy together with a community of like-minded people.

In addition, the lawsuit states that Paul intends to hold Findeisen accountable for his defamatory actions and to hold the defendant liable for the enormous damage his videos have caused to Paul’s reputation.

The plaintiff claims that Findeisen acted intentionally and recklessly by spreading defamatory untruths through his YouTube videos.

Paul previously dropped the Coffeezilla slander when he tried to restore CryptoZoo

Paul noted that he had already considered suing Coffeezilla for defamation in late 2022, but later backed out.

The former NFT founder noted that he focused his efforts on measures that could recover CryptoZoo, laying out a $1.5 million recovery strategy for the blockchain project during this period.

However, Paul was disappointed as his efforts did not make a positive difference. Instead, he spent $1 million between January and March to buy back the NFTs, although he never profited from the project.

In his lawsuit, Paul seeks more than $75,000 in damages, plus interest and attorneys’ fees, from Findeisen. He also seeks additional compensatory damages and restitution to be determined by the court.
