Club SFO officially opens at San Francisco International Airport

Summary

  • Club SFO opened earlier this week at San Francisco International Airport.
  • The luxurious lounge is decorated in Northern California style and features redwood-style walls and locally sourced food.
  • It is the first lounge in The Club Lounge network to receive LEED Gold certification.

Just a week after the final section of Harvey Milk Terminal 1 opened at San Francisco International Airport (SFO), a luxurious area for frequent flyers welcomed its first guests earlier this week. A new lounge called “The Club SFO” is San Francisco’s newest airport lounge and has its roots in Northern California.

The space was designed and built by Airport Dimensions, a global airport improvement specialist, who also worked with architecture and design firm Corgan to showcase stunning highlights of the location.

“Moments of security and relaxation”

Club SFO’s idea is to create a space where travelers can come into harmony with their surroundings. “North of California, of course” The theme includes double-height floors in the lounge’s lobby, modeled after the iconic redwood trees, considered the largest and tallest trees in the world. The space’s lighting is designed to look like light shining through a canopy of leaves, creating a modern yet calming ambience.

The lounge is over 12,000 square feet in size and can accommodate a maximum of 250 guests. It offers a variety of amenities, including areas for relaxation, productivity and rejuvenation. Nancy Knipp, President of Americas at Airport Dimensions, spoke about the opening of the new lounge.

“Club SFO showcases Airport Dimensions’ expertise in designing unique airport oases and welcomes travelers seeking moments of comfort and relaxation at this West Coast travel hub. Club SFO marks a strengthening of the Club network and offers an enhanced travel experience. This space features a distinctive design that stays true to the Club’s ethos of being local first and features amenities that go far beyond the ordinary. We are excited to welcome travelers to this innovative space.”

Unique features

With wellness at its core, Club SFO features two Lululemon mirrors with content developed by Peloton Interactive, a New York-based fitness and media company, and first-of-its-kind Luminescent Rooms, personalized retreats where guests can recharge with adjustable temperature lighting.

The airport has around 20 lounges.

The culinary scene features a wine list of 100% Northern California wines, while the food, from fruit to bread, is locally sourced. At the front of the lounge is a microclimate fireplace, another unique element. The fireplace was designed to create the illusion of a campfire and is located in a temperature-controlled room that is slightly warmer than other areas of the lounge to provide a warm welcome in every sense of the word.

It is not made from natural fire, but from water vapor. As the first in The Club network to receive the prestigious LEED Gold certification, the lounge scores highly for sustainability. According to Airport Dimensions, the lounge uses energy-efficient systems and technologies, extensive recycling and composting, and water-saving systems.

“The perfect edition”

Club SFO is located in Concourse B of the Harvey Milk Terminal. As part of the terminal renovation, all travelers now have access to the concourse after security screening.

“We are delighted to welcome travelers to Club SFO in Harvey Milk Terminal 1,” said SFO Director Ivar C. Satero. “A premium lounge concept – available to all customers – is the perfect complement to our newest award-winning terminal and supports our goal of providing our guests with a truly exceptional airport experience. We value the expertise of Airport Dimensions and are confident they will be successful here at SFO.”
