Karol G’s “Provenza” video joins the billion-view YouTube club

Karol GThe “Provenza” music video has officially joined YouTube’s Billion Views Club. The song debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin and Hot Airplay charts when it was released. The accompanying video – officially released on YouTube over two years ago on April 21, 2022 – was filmed in Lanzarote, a Spanish island off the West African coast, and directed by Pedro Artola.

This is Karol G’s ninth video to reach this milestone. The Colombian superstar’s eight other videos with over a billion views are: “Tusa” featuring Nicki Minaj; “Secreto” featuring Anuel Angel AA; “China” featuring AA, Daddy Yankee, Ozuna & J Balvin; “Bichota”; “Culpables”; the historic Shakira collaboration “TQG”; “El Makinon” featuring Mariah Angeliq; and “Ahora Me Llama” featuring Bad Bunny. The first video to ever reach one billion views on YouTube was the viral “Gangnam Style” by South Korean musician Psy, which earned this title in December 2012, just months after its release.

A new video on the Billion Views Club is the latest highlight in Karol G’s up-and-coming years. In April, she picked up several awards at the Latin American Music Videos, including Album and Song of the Year for “TQG.” In February, she was named Billboard’s 2024 Woman of the Year and embarked on a record-breaking international stadium tour in support of her album.
