Children learned about water safety at the Boys & Girls Club in Carver Ranches

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida. – Children learned about water safety this week at the Boys & Girls Club in Carver Ranches.

For their last day of camp, the swimmers rose early in the morning at the corner of Southwest 4th Avenue and 23rd Street.

Aquatics director George Coneo said it is essential for children to learn to swim, especially at this time of year.

“We are surrounded by water and it is essential that every child learns to swim. At least at a basic level,” said Coneo.

At the end of the course, the children received certificates for their hard work during the four-day program with the ZAC Foundation in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club.

The ZAC Foundation was created to prepare children and families for a life of water safety.

According to the organization’s website, the group also works to strengthen pool safety laws and funds awareness, education and effective water safety programs. The memory of Zachary Archer Cohn is the inspiration for the foundation’s mission and activities.
