ZeroEyes, AI Weapon Detection Pioneer, Secures Over Million in Series B Funding

PHILADELPHIA – Weapon detection video analytics platform ZeroEyes announced it has secured more than $53 million in its second round of funding.

The oversubscribed round was led by Sorenson Capital, with participation from Intel Capital, BroadLight Capital and existing investors.

The company provides an end-to-end security solution from threat detection to situational awareness, with a focus on proactively detecting weapons before shots are fired and providing actionable intelligence to frontline personnel and first responders. ZeroEyes has expanded rapidly in recent months with numerous deployments across the United States, and this funding will further fuel that growth, it says.

“ZeroEyes is an unobtrusive force multiplier that protects schools, businesses and other organizations from gun violence,” said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes. “Our goal is for our software to become the fire alarm of the future. Every building in America has a fire alarm, and eventually every camera in the country will need to have gun detection software. We will be that provider.”

ZeroEyes’ proactive AI-powered weapon detection and intelligent situational awareness software currently protects thousands of buildings for hundreds of customers across 42 states, and demand in education, commercial, transportation and government continues to grow.

“Effective weapons detection technology is difficult. The ZeroEyes team has brought together extensively trained military experts with the most comprehensive AI software to ensure safety in communities across the country,” said Rob Rueckert, partner at Sorenson Capital. “The ZeroEyes team is without exception the most qualified team with many years of collective military training.”

“Gun violence has transformed the American education system. It is a constant threat to students, teachers and families,” said Mark Lydon, Managing Director at Intel Capital. “The ability of ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection software to increase physical security in schools and elsewhere offers a glimpse into a world where AI is being used to address society’s most critical challenges.”

ZeroEyes cited investments in distribution partnership programs, research and development, business expansion and the company’s Gun Violence Research Center as goals of its growth strategy.
