The Hungry Hill Golden Age Club celebrates the 4th of July early

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Hungry Hill Golden Age Club is celebrating the Fourth of July early with its holiday barbecue.

The Golden Age Club invited its members and seniors from the community to its Fourth of July barbecue and bingo game. Over 40 seniors gathered to enjoy a luncheon provided by Copperline of Chicopee, all dressed in red, white and blue.

Golden Age Club Vice President Martha Kelliher told 22News what celebrating together means to her: “We are just so grateful that everyone can come together and enjoy friendship, enjoy good food and of course celebrate the Fourth of July.”

Mayor Sarno attended the Golden Agers celebration and said how much he enjoyed the event. He thanked Commissioner of Human Services Helen Caulton-Harris and Hungry Hill Senior Center Director Linda Henley for the work they do for the seniors in our neighborhood.

Next week, the City of Springfield celebrates the Fourth of July with the Spirit of Springfield’s Star Spangled Springfield event. It’s a night of entertainment and family fun with fireworks from the Memorial Bridge.
