Tinashe announces release date for “Quantum Baby” and releases new song “Getting No Sleep”

Tinashe just announced that her new album, Quantum Baby, will be released on August 16th via Nice Life Recording Company. Can we all be excited about that? Honestly, we are.

“Quantum Baby” is the second part of a trilogy, following 2023’s “BB/ANG3L”. Tinashe describes the new album as a deeper exploration of herself as a person and as an artist: “Quantum Baby is about getting to know myself on a deeper level. It’s about finding out who I am as a person and who I am as an artist,” she explains. She adds: “I’ve never been one to pigeonhole myself, so the name Quantum Baby encompasses all the different parts that make up me as a creative person.”

In case you missed it, the album is led by Tinashe’s viral hit “Nasty,” which currently sits at No. 62 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The second single, “Getting No Sleep,” was released today (June 28). The song was co-written with producers Nosaj Thing and Billy Lemos and includes lyrics such as: “Feels like Friday, different night, same vibe / Take you outside, a movie scene every time / Poke me, I’m well-endowed, so pretty, no bad sides / No dog but he’s inside me, I’m making records like I’m Lindsay.”

The release is accompanied by a visual directed by Jonah Haber. Check it out below.

Reflecting on her previous album, BB/ANG3L, Tinashe says it was inspired by the concept of identity. “For BB/ANG3L, I was very inspired by the concept of identity. I was both exploring how I identify myself and challenging the perceptions of others,” she explained. “I believe how we identify in this world is ultimately our own personal choice; and I enjoyed peeling away layers of aesthetic fluff, glare and white noise to get to my core. Who we are at our core when we’re alone – raw and unfiltered – is what I want this album to reflect.”
