Ariana Grande defends voice change after viral interview – Hollywood Life

In a new comment under a TikTok video, the pop star clarified that her pitch change was out of “habit.”

Yes, ArianaGrande‘s voice doesn’t always sound the same, right? The 30-year-old “Yes, And?” singer clarified in a new comment why her pitch changed drastically in a now-viral video from her interview on “Popcrushed.”

In response to a fan’s TikTok video asking if Ariana had undergone a “voice change,” the former Nickelodeon colleague commented, “Habit (of speaking like that for two years) and also vocal health.”

Ariana continued, “I change my vocal range (high/low) often and intentionally depending on how much I’m singing.”

She concluded her answer with the remark: “I’ve always done that, BYE.”

In the clip, Ariana discussed her music with the host of “Popcrushed” Penn Badgley. At the beginning of the video Victorious Alum spoke in a deeper voice before quickly switching to a soprano tone a few moments later.

Social media has been abuzz over the tone changes in Ariana’s voice, with countless X users commenting. One tweeted earlier this week: “Normal Ariana came out for a second,” while another wrote: “THE VOICE CHANGE PLEASE HELP ME.”

Others compared the sudden change in tone with her Evil The character Glinda the Witch from the musical is known for her high soprano voice. Ariana plays the famous character in parts 1 and 2 of the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Broadway musical. As fans know, she will belt out her incredibly talented voice to sing the iconic numbers “Popular” and “Defying Gravity”. The actress Cynthia Erivo plays Elphaba in both films.

During the discussion Evil During her recent podcast appearance, Ariana explained how she trained for the role despite already being a talented pop singer.

“Glinda is a soprano, like an opera soprano, not in the way that I’m a soprano in my pop career,” she stressed. “It’s just a whole different register, and I kept training it, because even though the notes were there, it’s a different register, and I sang it completely differently, so I wanted to train my muscles. … I went in every day and trained to learn the tools I needed to sing and to be Glinda through and through.”

Aside from her new film, Ariana has also been working hard on her music. Earlier this year she released her new album, Forget it!. She is also with her Evil Co-Star Ethan Slater since last summer.
