Goldberg would like to play his last match, but must first take care of his injury

Goldberg still wants to return to the ring for another fight – but first he has to deal with an injury problem.

During an appearance on Busted Open Radio this week, Goldberg was asked if he would possibly have one last fight. He would love to, but he has a rotator cuff tear that he has been dealing with for some time. Goldberg needs to finally heal from the injury before wrestling again.

“Oh man, I’d love to do that, 100 percent, dude,” Goldberg said. “But I’ve got to get my torn rotator cuff taken care of.”

Goldberg said the injury occurred when he first returned to WWE in 2016, facing Brock Lesnar. Since he rarely wrestled, he didn’t tell anyone about the injury and continued working despite it all. He will undergo stem cell treatment soon and then see if surgery is necessary.

“I’m not doing anything until I get that done,” he said. “And hopefully that’s soon — I’m going to have a stem cell harvest here soon and then I’ll see if surgery is needed. But yeah, man, I’d love to have one more match. You know how it is. Vince (McMahon) and I talked about it. He gave me his word. But all that happened. And, hey, man, I hold no grudges. Vince gave me so many opportunities, man, I’ll be eternally grateful. But yeah, I’d absolutely love to have that last match. I would. Is it good for me not to have it? Yeah, I’m OK with that. But it would be nice to have one.”

Goldberg has not wrestled since his loss to Roman Reigns at WWE Elimination Chamber 2022 in Saudi Arabia. On Busted Open Radio, he said his final fight would not have to be in WWE. Goldberg said he could run the promotion himself with possible fights in Israel, India, Japan and the United States. He has talked about this farewell tour before, but it has not yet been put into action.

“I’ll be honest, I have no idea,” Goldberg said about who he would like to face in his final match. “I haven’t even thought about it for a second.” He hoped for the past few years that Sting would be his opponent, but he didn’t want to diminish what Sting had to do with his own retirement.
