Emilio Rodriguez of Pachuca is close to transferring to Celta Vigo as part of a club restructuring

The story was uncovered by @omarpdiaz, who confirmed that negotiations are underway between the two clubs. Emilio Rodríguez, a 21-year-old talent from Pachuca, is close to following in the footsteps of Mexican stars such as Andrés Guardado, Rafael Marquez and Hugo Sánchez with a possible move to Celta Vigo.

A product of Pachuca’s academy, Rodríguez made his first-team debut last season and has since become a key player, making 42 appearances this season and contributing eight goals. His standout performances include a goal in the CONCACAF Champions League final, in which Los Tuzos triumphed 3-0 over Columbus Crew. On the way to continental glory, the winger also scored a decisive goal in a 2-1 win over Club América that secured the club’s qualification for the final.

While Rodríguez moves ever closer to a move to Europe, Pachuca also faces the likely departure of Erick Sánchez to Club América. These changes represent a significant transformation for Pachuca as they prepare for the upcoming season without two of their standout players from the 2023/24 season.

Celta Vigo have finished the La Liga season in 13th place for the second year in a row and are now looking for reinforcements to improve their position next season. The club believes that the signing of Emilio Rodríguez will significantly boost their efforts to climb the table.
