The rain stops, but one day you might need long sleeves

Here’s a closer look at the weekend’s weather. The weather pattern this weekend is quite predictable and understandable.

The weather scenario calls for a period of showers and thunderstorms moving across Michigan today through tonight. The rain will leave southeastern Lower Michigan by Saturday morning. Sunday should be dry for most of us. I would expect a partly sunny, but a little chilly Sunday for July standards.

To find out if it will be dry or wet on Saturday morning, you can look at the radar forecast at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The thunderstorms will be in the southeast area and will move away by midday. Everywhere north and west of the thunderstorm area should already be dry by 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint and Monroe areas will have rain until noon.

The reason the showers are ending is because a cold front has passed through. The name of the weather event tells you what will happen. Cooler temperatures will move in from the northwest late Saturday. The cool air of July will reach us on Sunday.

Below you will find the temperature forecast from early morning to late afternoon.

Saturday will start out quite warm with temperatures around 15 degrees. This is because the clouds will keep temperatures a little higher tonight.

Low temperatures are forecast for Saturday, June 29th.

Saturday afternoon should be close to 27 degrees for most of us. You would probably describe Saturday afternoon as a fairly summery afternoon. It certainly won’t be sweltering hot.

Sunday morning will actually be cool to cold for July. If you are camping in western UP, you could be in for a cold shock Sunday morning. Southern Lower Michigan will be comfortably cool and we can turn off our air conditioners. Northern Lower Michigan will be almost chilly starting Sunday.

Sunday afternoon will be sunny at times, but it will not be very hot.

It won’t be a really wet weekend. In fact, it will be much more dry than wet. Is it a summery weekend? Not really, especially with chilly weather all day on Sunday.
